JTC Group has achieved particularly rapid growth over the last seven years. We were introduced to Safelink when we acquired a long-term Safelink customer, Herald Trust, in 2014. When acquiring a new business, any technologies we retain from that business or integrate across the group, must essentially ‘make the car go faster’. This means it must create efficiency gains and drive our margin up, or create greater security for our business, aiding with compliance.
Around the time of the acquisition, we were looking for a cloud-based platform JTC Group could use to securely share documents with clients, other firms and intermediaries, as well as share documents internally. Our sharing of information, documents and data was very unstructured, driven by user demand and the IT department was a bit reactive rather than spearheading a secure IT framework for the rest of the group to use. Traditionally we had used email but there are always issues with restrictions on document size as well as the security element and risk of information leak or interception. The options on the market were consumer-focused options such as Dropbox, Google Drive and WeTransfer which, for an enterprise-level business, are just not conducive to a secure workforce. With these options, you have no idea where your data is going and there is still the risk of data leakage. I had had the experience of using on-premise document management systems such as HighQ in previous businesses but they did not offer the level of encryption and security options we needed.
To find a secure way to share documents across our business, and with our clients, that would enhance our clients’ experience and demonstrate to all stakeholders that we are ahead of the curve when it comes to information security.
Safelink as the Solution
As soon as we learnt about Safelink’s titan security framework and the fact that we could scale the solution so easily across the rest of the business, we were sold. The fact that Safelink is cloud-based but data is encrypted at rest and in transit was exactly what we needed. We were also given the option to choose the cloud location of where our data would be stored, so we were able to keep our data within Jersey where our global headquarters are. When I reviewed Safelink we could immediately tell it was a more mature and more secure product than anything else on the market. The account can be controlled by the IT team - with full credential management, user permissions controls, full audit trail - offering a complete SaaS ‘out of the box’ solution. Once a workspace has been created for a project, or an internal team, the workspace can be administered by the business staff itself without relying on IT to administer it. We were quick to roll Safelink out across the Group and it has been very easy to get all areas up and running. There is very good in-app support which makes adoption easy as well.
Tell us about JTC’s experience using Safelink
We have been using Safelink for over 7 years now and we create both white-labelled secure Safelink client portals and internal workspaces which look really appealing. We changed the platform’s colours to align with our brand so it appears to be a complete extension of our own online digital offering. Safelink enables us to share files of any size. Safelink takes all the hard work out of file sharing, we can upload zipped folders to our workspaces which automatically unpack and it is easy to get them structured & organised. We feel like we are ahead of the curve from the perspective of secure information exchange and our clients see us as being very proactive by having a system in place such as this. We use Safelink across all divisions of the business for onboarding clients, for mergers and acquisitions and for document sharing internally. As an IT team, we no longer feel reactive. We now proactively recommend Safelink to our staff and hand off the administration to the members within the businesses.

You don’t need a big IT presence to get going with Safelink because it is an off-the-shelf SaaS product. It is very competitively priced and scales in line with your requirement. The team behind it gives me every confidence, and the product… well, it sells itself.
